The subtleties and delicate nature of surgery is an art, which through his innate artistic skill and over 10,000 hours of experience, has been mastered.

Dr. Vella’s motivation and purpose all relate to 2 main things, his passion for his art, which is manifested by providing his surgical skill to his patients and supporting and leading his family in the most loving and compassionate way.

Vella Hand Surgery is committed to providing our patients with the highest quality patient care backed by exceptional service and innovative approaches supported by research and education.

Your Surgeon as an Artist

Dr. Vella is also an Artist. At a young age his talent was recognized and he went on to win awards for his art portfolio in high school. As his medical career advanced his art was no longer performed on a canvas or with paper and pencil, but rather the human body.  He was recognized during his training as having advanced surgical skill when compared to his peers. He believes his artistic background was part of his advanced skill.

Dr. Vella recognizes that art can take on many forms. Part of his surgical skill stems from his artistic talents, his ability to see the anatomy in a unique way and his capacity to artistically recreate human anatomy in a reliable way.

Although human anatomy is very similar, the ability to see and appreciate that everyone is different and notice the subtleties in an individual’s anatomy allows Dr. Vella to provide his artistic surgical skill to his patients.
